Panel on Efficacy Evaluation of Herbicides and Plant Growth Regulators

The Panel on Efficacy Evaluation of Herbicides and Plant Growth Regulators met in Athens, on 2005-11-23/24, at the kind invitation of the Greek NPPO.

The Panel continued its main task of developing standards for conducting field trials to evaluate the efficacy of herbicides and plant growth regulators. It finalized the revision of the standard text. The Panel reviewed the list of existing EPPO standards on Herbicides and PGRs and selected a Steward for each of them. The Steward will consider the standard, evaluate if a revision is needed, and prepare it, if appropriate.

The Panel completed the revision of the Standard PP 1/158 Regulation of growth in pome fruit. It was divided in 2 standards: one for orchard applied pre-harvest applications, and one for post-harvest and ‘in-store’ applications.

In relation to General Standards, the new standard on effects on adjacent crops and the revision of PP 1/207 Effects on succeeding crops were finalized and will be sent for country consultation.

A joint meeting was held together with the Panel on Efficacy Evaluation of Insecticides and Fungicides to discuss the revision of PP 1/135 Phytotoxicity Assessment. The Appendix on Varietal sensitivity trials which was previously part of every existing standard on Herbicides was revised and transfered to PP 1/135.
